Dr. G’s dedication to the community started in Boy Scouts, where he eventually achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, not entirely because his parents wouldn’t let him drive unless he finished. Throughout his career, he has served others through humanitarian relief missions, and served our country in the United States Navy Reserve for over twelve years.
Locally, Dr. G is past president of the Kern County Dental Society, and has served as a member of the Board of Directors since 2012. He is chairman of the KCDS Study Club, providing continuing education opportunities for dental professionals throughout Kern County.
Dr. G was a member of the local planning committee and volunteer for the first ever CDA Cares in Bakersfield. CDA Cares is a charity dental clinic sponsored by the California Dental Association Foundation, where free dental care was provided for approximately 2,000 people at the Kern County Fairgrounds in October 2017.
Purple Heart Parents
As a third-generation veteran with 12 years of active duty and reserve service as a healthcare provider for the Navy and Marine Corps, Dr. G knows what it means to take care of those who take care of us.
During his time as a Navy Reserve Dental Officer with the 4th Dental Battalion, 4th Marine Logistics Group, Dr. G spent weekends during orthodontics residency outprocessing Marines returning from deployments in the Global War on Terror. It was a privilege for him to have such close contact with these warriors, and in far too many cases, the units he cared for were not returning intact.
While his co-residents enjoyed extra time for study, Dr. G was caring for sailors and Marines who had come home wounded, missing members of their units, and struggling to make ends meet once their active duty pay and TRICARE were gone.
Having experienced the reality of dealing with Veterans Affairs for healthcare firsthand, Dr. G knows it is no picnic. And while disabled veterans may have access to care, CHAMPVA dental benefits for dependents hardly ever offer any coverage for braces. This is where we can help.
We are excited to announce our “Purple Heart Parents” program. While we have always offered discounted treatment for all veterans and their families, combat-wounded heroes hold a special place in our hearts. The program is simple. Any Kern County Resident holder of a Purple Heart awarded after 9/11 can bring their DD-214 and child to our office for braces, and we’ll provide them for free. We have committed to providing free care for 4 patients under this program in 2018, and hope to do more in the years to come. Purple Heart Parents Eligibility Requirements:
Veteran’s Child Must:
Veteran’s Child Must: Be a son or daughter of a Purple Heart Recipient; or The Purple Heart Recipient serves as legal guardian of the child Be 16 years of age or younger and Be a resident of Kern County
